A gorgeous, large-scale photo book packed with unexpected perspectives of the Atlantic and western European coastal areas, to inspire European visitors and residents as well as armchair tourists and photography buffs around the world
Description:
Nearly 450 awe-inspiring photos present unexpected perspectives of the mighty Atlantic Ocean and the western European coastal areas it touches.

The powerful Atlantic Ocean looms off the coast of western Europe as a mercilessly untamed, rugged, and endless expanse. While Europe''s nearly 750 million residents and hundreds of thousands of annual visitors can make for crowded cities and congested towns, the coastal areas offer plenty of spots for people to get in touch with nature—and to experience the majesty of the Atlantic Ocean.

In this oversized photographic extravaganza:
  • Nearly 450 magnificent images showcase unexpected perspectives of the places where rock, wind, and water collide on Europe''s Atlantic coast.
  • Images showcase views of Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, and Portugal.
  • The range of the Atlantic is on full display. The ocean is characterized by shoals and foaming spray, surging waves, and treacherous currents, yet it is also a unique habitat for whales and seabirds—and the backdrop for gorgeous sunsets.
This stunning addition to a stylish coffee table provides plenty of inspiration for adventurers, photographers, armchair travelers, and all others who find themselves in awe of the storied Atlantic.
Biographical note:
Dirk Thomsen, Katinka Holupirek, Laura Joppien, Michaela Jancauskas, Andrea Rudolf, and Annika Voigt teamed up to compile the materials for The Wild Atlantic: Europe''s Most Spectacular Coastal Landscapes. Janina and Markus Meier are a Bavarian mountaineering couple. A geographer and a banker, respectively, they have been out and about in the mountains since their youth. Initially hiking, they later discovered their passion for climbing, mountaineering, and ski touring. Their love of mountains led them to become trainers at the German Alpine Club.
