McIntyre''s illustrations are typically irresistible. Brilliant characterisation is achieved in the simplest way - with bold line and colour delivering pictures that sparkle and fizz on almost every page

An absolute joy
Review quote:
[Pedro''s] longing to have an adventure, and the obstacles to achieving that, are what strike a chord with so many KS1 children. Readers love to cheer him on . . . This is a colour-illustrated chapter book to inspire (day-)dreams and great ambition. It is a short book . . . with a big heart . . . The final pages - a map of The Mouse Islands, ''How to Draw Pedro'' and ''About the Authors'' - are a great addition to this latest book from the talented Reeve-McIntyre duo, which reflect their humour and their generosity
Review quote:
Reeve and McIntyre are a classic team

A delightfully told, beautiful tale
Biographical note:
Philip Reeve grew up in Brighton. He has been writing stories since he was five years old, but the first one to be published was Mortal Engines which won the Nestle Smarties Book Prize and Blue Peter Book Award, and was made into a blockbuster film. Philip has also provided cartoons and jokes for many books, including Horrible Histories, and written the magical Utterly Dark series. Sarah McIntyre is easy to spot in her pointy glasses and hats. Sometimes she writes and draws picture books and comics herself, and sometimes she illustrates books for other people, including Giles Andreae, Alan MacDonald, Gillian Rogerson, Anne Cottringer and Claire Freedman. When Philip and Sarah make books together, they both brainstorm the story ideas together, then Philip writes them and Sarah illustrates them. But occasionally they swap roles for a bit. And they love dressing up.
