Born on September 29, 1841, in Beit Chebab, Metn, Lebanon, my ancestor Michael Fadlallah El Haddad immigrated to Austria-Hungary in 1856 and joined the Imperial army at a very young age on November 26, 1857. Michael served in the Austro-Hungarian army during the First World War and engaged in one of the longest and most dangerous expeditions of his time in the Arabian Desert. He died in 1924 as a retired Major General in the Hungarian army and was buried in the Babolna burial ground. Surrounded by the famous acacia arboretum, the General's residence is located in the central courtyard of the Babolna National Stud Farm, in this same courtyard, a monumental bust stands today in his memory and next to it, is buried the General's famous Magyar horse "Obajan".
