Giacometti, A biography by James Lord
James Lord, a close friend of Picasso and Giacometti died at the age of 86 in his Paris home. After travelling on a 3 day mission to Paris in 1944 with the U.S army, Mr Lord had become acquainted with Picasso and gained access to the artistic life of Montparnasse. In three volumes of memoirs he draws portraits of Jean Cocteau, Gertrude Stein... He wrote the definitive biography of Giacometti: “Giacometti, A biography” and “Picasso and Dora,” a memoir dealing with the artist and his long time mistress and muse.
