Highlights

Vampire stories are all the craze lately; with the HBO series True blood and the ever so famous Twilight series. We thought we’d take a look at the latest publications “with a bite”.

The Twilight Saga Collection by Stephenie Meyer

Who of us hasn’t heard of the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, small town Forks, Washington’s gorgeous vampire? After moving in with her father, Isabella Swan meets Edward and falls in love with him.  He returns her love but has trouble controlling the blood thirst she awakens in him, which could drive him to kill her. But, Bella couldn’t care less about the danger their relationship poises as long as she gets to be around Edward. The lovers find themselves constantly having to find balance between desire and danger. This is a love story with bite (pun intended).
This Box set includes all four books: Twilight, New moon, Eclipse, and lastly Breaking dawn.

The Strain by Guillermor Del Toro

Guillermo Del Toro’s vampires are the real deal. Unlike the sexy, vegetarian vampires of Twilight, these vampires are out for a kill and, worst of all, they are multiplying. The only thing standing between them and a really bloody end of the world are a couple of scientists, an old man with a decades-old vendetta, and a young boy. Great summer reading, especially considering it’s only the beginning; 'The Strain' is the first book of a trilogy.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame Smith and Jane Austen

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains."
This is how this extended Pride and prejudice begins. 85% of the original text has been maintained but meshed with bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As the story begins, a plague has fallen upon the English village of Meryton and the dead are coming back to life, forcing families like the Bennets to send their daughters to china to learn the art of the deadly combat. Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie threat but is soon distracted by the arrival of the arrogant Mr Darcy.

Sookie Stackhouse is the main character in The Southern Vampire Mysteries, a series of nine books written by author Charlaine Harris. The series is a first-person account of Sookie's life as a barmaid and telepath in the fictional town of Bon Temps, Louisiana.
In the latest book of the series that inspired the HBO original series 'True Blood', Sookie Stackhouse faces danger, death, and once again betrayal from someone she loves. After the manmade explosion of the vampire summit, and the natural disaster of Hurricane Katrina, Sookie who has managed to stay unharmed just wants things to go back to normal. But her boyfriend Quinn is among the missing.
