As the heat of summer draws near, new arrivals of books stack up in our libraries to enjoy during lazy summer afternoons. This month, we incidentally concentrate our attention towards Arab, Lebanese, and also authors of the wider Middle Eastern region, who continually contribute to the world of fiction and imagination. Among them are widely renowned authors such as Selim Nassib, Etel Adnan and Amin Maalouf but also new and fresh voices from the Diaspora. We are delighted to share with you this selection of books as they encompass a wide range of highly regarded authors who write in the English language and include both fiction and nonfiction works.
It is moreover a great opportunity to shed light on certain works that have been recently translated and thus made available to English readers but also to discover young and innovative writers who are linked, in one way or another, to our part of the world. Whether in reminiscence, in outrage or in awe of the world that surrounds them, these writers conveyed their experiences in the most eloquent of ways.
While there is a concentration of authors from the Arab world (and beyond), the first edition of a full-fledged English newsletter also offers a varied, and hopefully, an enjoyable range of books and readings in English. It is time to hit the booksellers, stack up on our summer readings and enjoy the beauty of prose in all its colors.
